A former World No. 1, he has won numerous events, most notably the 1992 Masters Tournament. In August 2011 he won his maiden senior major at the Senior Players Championship. Because of his long drives, Couples has been given the nickname "Boom Boom". Inducted into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in Chicago in November 2007. Selected for the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in the fall of 2011.
