Tour Preferred CB Irons

The Ultimate Union of Speed and Precision

“Tour Preferred” is an attitude and an aptitude. It’s a skill for understanding, designing, building and maintaining golf equipment for the better player. TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred irons have long been revered by tour professionals for striking the ideal balance of look, feel, sound and performance. That comes from our unique and unparalleled ability to interpret the observations of tour professionals and turn them into reality through the union of innovative technologies and artful design. The result: irons that please the eye and live up to the skills of the better player.

Tour Preferred CB is a full-fledged cavity back that maintains the shape of a player’s iron and the elegant look of a blade when soled behind the ball. The Speed Pocket in the 3- through 7-iron features “micro-slots” to promote faster ball speed across the face and higher launch, which promote more distance. That helps make the Tour Preferred CB one of the longest player’s iron that TaylorMade has ever created. Short-iron heads are compact with minimal offset, while the long and middle iron heads are slightly larger with progressive offset for more stability and easier launch.

All three Tour Preferred models are offered in 3-iron through PW, feature a hand-polished satin nickel-chrome finish and are equipped with KBS Tour steel shafts and tour velvet grips. Custom shafts and grips are available.

  • Art and science converge to create the ultimate combination of speed, stability and clean design.
  • Ideal iron for the better player who wants maximum performance technology in a compact and elegant head shape.
  • Speed Pocket™ in 3- through 7-irons increases ball speed low on the face to deliver more consistent ballspeed and launch conditions across the entire face.
  • Beautifully shaped sole for better players who prefer slightly more effective bounce.
  • Compact short-irons with minimal offset, slightly larger mid- and long-irons with progressively more offset.
  • Stronger lofts due to higher launch angle generated by the Speed Pocket for an optimal combination of distance and controlled trajectory.
  • Hand-polished satin nickel-chrome finish preferred by better players.

As a follow up to the 2012 TP CB and R11 Irons, the new TP CB Irons have a lot to live up to. But what TM created was a set of irons that certainly impressed me. These irons are playable and forgiving. Not to mention about 1/2 club longer than the original TP CBs. Like the R11s, I can fire the golf balls at the flags with great accuracy due to the built in forgiveness.

Awesome feel, able to shape the ball both ways and forgiving on slight misfits and long. I added about 10 yards from my old nike irons.

The irons are solid, light, and long. I immediately gained a club and a half(18 yards). They have a great feel to them and I was stopping a 225 yard 4 iron within 10 ft of where it landed on green

After unknowingly playing with ill Fitted clubs from a Popular golf store for 10 years, my scores were about to double my age and I was about to quit. I decided to get new clubs and get fitted with the latest technology BY the latest technology at the Taylor Made fitting center. ( highly recommended ).I settled on the TP, CB/ MC combo' and added the AW.
I've had one lesson and one round so far. My 3 wood stays in the bag and my 3 iron is well used.
Solid feel in general and VERY forgiving on mis-hits. All though I am still adjusting to the differences from my last set of "garden tools", I see great things ahead and many enjoyable rounds.

Picked up the CBs after a 1.5 hour fitting with the Taylormade Rep (highly recommended). After working through the various shafts options I selected the C Taper Stiff. I played my first round with these new CBs after one range session (to grove yardages). I picked up nearly two clubs in length and the forgiveness was amazing. I was able to attack par 5's with ease in route to a 74 (+4 front, -2 back). Without question these are great irons and highly recommend them. I'm a weekend golfer picking up 12-14 rounds a year (played competitive golf as a junior) and play for the love of the game today. Whether you select the CB's, MC's or MB's, these clubs can be fitted to your game (swing speed). The look of the CB's have a thin top line and look at address similar to a MB and have a great look at address. Beyond the length I picked up, the traj was also a big improvement being able to approach with longer irons. In fact I took out my hybrid 3 as I hit my new 4 iron just as high and as long (need to buy a 3 iron of the same set and specs). Great sticks, PERIOD.

I could go on about these irons but I'll keep it short. One word "WOW!" I switched from x hot pros( kind of soft at impact ) to these and shots feel more solid and distance control is on point. First TM iron I've hit worth the money!!
