RocketBladez Irons

The Speed Pocket has changed the iron forever.
One little thing makes RocketBladez irons stand apart from the rest, and that’s the Speed Pocket, a 2mm-wide slot in the sole that flexes and rebounds at impact, increasing the speed of the face to promote faster ball speed, a higher launch angle and a higher, stronger ball flight that lands on a steep, quick-stopping descent angle.
It’s the same concept that makes our RBZ Stage 2 fairways and Rescues so fast and long. In addition to delivering more speed for more distance, the RocketBladez Speed Pocket also delivers consistent speed, so shots fly a consistent distance for predictability from shot to shot. Incorporated in the 3- through 7-irons, the Speed Pocket also promotes dramatically less drop-off in ball speed on impacts low on the face, where the majority of iron mis-hits occur -- TaylorMade studies indicate that 68% of iron shots by amateur golfers are mis-hits below center-face.
RocketBladez irons feel great too. The Speed Pocket is filled with a specially formulated polyurethane developed by 3M that quiets vibration without significantly slowing/inhibiting the flex of the pocket, while also keeping debris out.
RocketBladez irons also incorporate TaylorMade’s newest and most effective iteration of Inverted Cone clubface technology. Positioned in the back of the clubface, the improved Inverted Cone design delivers two critical benefits. One, it increases the size of the clubface area that delivers high ball speed. Two, it influences how the face flexes and rebounds at impact to control the angle at which the ball leaves the face, promoting straighter shots and a tighter dispersion. This is a critical benefit that promotes significantly more accuracy compared to previous high COR irons.
- Speed Pocket in the 3- through 7-irons works with an advanced, ultra-thin face design to promote consistently high ball speed and distance.
- Consistent distance with every iron made possible by careful management of the Speed Pocket, improved Inverted Cone shape and high MOI.
- 17.5 grams of weight is strategically redistributed to lower and center the CG location, promoting a higher launch angle, higher peak trajectory and a steep, soft-landing, quick-stopping descent angle.
- Fantastic feel promoted by a specially formulated polyurethane developed by 3M that fills the RBZ Speed Pocket and quiets vibration.
- SW and LW have re-designed cavities to promote feel, feature our renowned ATV sole for maximum greenside versatility, and come equipped with heavier steel shafts to promote better rhythm and control

These irons are the best I have hit yet. Right off the bat I am getting 10 to 15 more yards from my 6 and 7 irons. I find myself clubbing down now instead of clubbing up. I only have two rounds in with them so far but I am impressed with them.

There is only one word to describe how I feel about these clubs. WOW!! Be prepared to hit the ball longer.
Just a note: I lost one of my head covers, called them up, they sent me a new one. No Charge. Now you know why I play Taylormade.

I am 6'4" and have played Ping irons for years because I could order them +1" and 2` upright. TaylorMade custom built a set of irons (5 thru LW) for me and they arrived last week. I have played 5 rounds with them so far and I really like them. I'm not a long hitter but have gained about 1 club (8 - 10 yards) with these clubs. They also have a higher and straighter trajectory than my Ping G5s. I am very pleased with my RocketBladz!

This club is one of the best by far. This club gives you an extra 15-20 yards when hit properly. I hit my 7 iron about 210 with these clubs. You must be an experienced player and have an above average ability to play the game well with these clubs. If you are on the verge of becoming an above average player I would get these clubs simply because the more perfect practice you have the better you will be. But over all this club is by far my favorite of any out right now. Good job Taylormade.

As a single digit handicap and a PGA Apprentice, I generally play blades or small cavity backs. Most recently I played the Titleist 695 CB/MB Combo. I struggle to keep up distance wise with other golfers of my skill level. My ball flight, while consistent, has always been low, and stopping long irons onto greens (which I find myself hitting often) was out of the question. I found myself amazed when I hit the Rocketbladez iron! Not only was I carrying a 7 iron 15 yards longer, but the trajectory was similar to that of my nine iron. While the tour model I hit went farther than my Titleist 7 iron, the trajectory was similar. The look of the Rocketbladez is not the most appealing to me, but I have no problem hitting it both ways and getting the ball to stop on the greens! Even with the higher trajectory, the ball bores through the wind nicely. My only complaint is the bulkier look than I am accustomed to , but I can get use the that as the performance is second to none!

In the past two years, have dropped one to two clubs in distance. Off to the local golf store. Hit numerous clubs and shafts and kept coming back to TM. Got fitted and have regained my distance. Hitting a 7i 170yds which is good for this ol man. As a result, just purchased Rbldz w/Rocketfuel 65 graphite shaft, 1/2degree flat standard length. My peeps will be surprized when we hit the greens this Spring. Looking forward to moving up in the Club rankings.

Have never been a Taylormade fan, until demo day. Tried the Rocketbalz irons with graphite r shafts. All I can say is WOW!! The 5 iron thru 8 iron are unbelievable, have never hit an iron as long or most important straight as these. Still not a fan of the looks, but given performance and shot making can get over it, and live with them in the bag for long time. The 9 iron and PW, seem to have distance control issues, some shots are 5-10 yards longer. All that said the ball flight and forgiveness are the best of any iron I have played.

Hi,
I, too, bought these after they felt great in the store and after I've been succeeding so much with my RocketBallz 3 and 5 wood. I got a set after hitting them head to head at a custom fitter vs my "old" irons. A 1 year old set of MP-59's. I was hitting them great and it seemed 10-15 yards farther on the monitor than my normal irons, so I was excited to get the same distance out of a shorter club.
But alas, I've played 6 rounds with them and they don't perform as advertised. I'm not getting that distance even with the Custom fitting. They don't have as good a feel or look (which I'd happily give up for that distance gain). But, I think it may be just hype to build off what are undoubtedly hot woods in the RocketBallz. I'm quite disappointed as I really wanted that extra distance and "hotness" from these clubs.
I would NOT recommend them.
ps - as I was typing this I was also watching the Honda Classic. Dustin Johnson was hitting from the fairway on 18 with a 3 iron. It most certainly was NOT a RocketBlade that he was hitting. Couldn't tell the model, but it was a Taylor Made blade player's club. NOT a RocketBlade. So, I guess I fell for the false advertising twice....

Higher, longer, straighter and quicker-stopping.
We've taken the concept for the RBZ Speed Pocket that we developed to boost the ball speed and distance in our RocketBallz fairway woods and hybrids and found a way to incorporate it into our new RocketBladez irons.
