2016 Quicken Loans National
Jon Rahm & Jordan Niebrugge sign with TaylorMade-adidas Golf and make PGA Tour debuts at Congressional
Jon Rahm fires an opening 64 (-7) at Congressional
Jon Rahm, (@littleJRmaza) the No. 1 golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking has officially joined #TeamTaylorMade and the professional ranks. As an Amateur, the long-hitting 21-year-old Spaniard made college golf history when he became first two-time winner of the Ben Hogan Award, an honor rewarded to the top player in college golf. He was also the low-amateur at the 116th U.S. Open finishing inside the top 25.
This week’s 2016 Quicken Loans National is Rahm’s first event as a pro. He didn’t hesitate to shine firing 7 birdies for a Round 1 64, a score good enough for the clubhouse lead after day one.
Rahm reported he had a room full of clubs after testing everything on the market throughout the spring. Unsurprisingly, the driver is what really sold him on joining the team stating, "I tried TaylorMade and I was really impressed with the driver, I really liked the driver. I felt like TaylorMade products could make me the best player I can be, so that's why I chose to go with them." He gamed an M2 driver at Oakmont where he ranked third in driving average (306 yards).

The 22-year-old former Oklahoma State standout is currently 13th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. In addition to his final WAGR, Jordan culminated his amateur career ranked 5th on the Scratch Players Ranking, which along with the WAGR are the two most respected amateur rankings. Niebrugge’s rise began in the summer of 2013 when he won the Wisconsin Match Play Championship. He followed that up by stringing together a historic amateur winning streak that included victories at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, Wisconsin State Amateur, and Western Amateur.
