Went to a demo days at the local country club and hit the M1 and liked it. Was able to also hit the R15 430 later and hit it the same as the M1. Both clubs are incredible and for a couple of hundred dollars less it is a no brainer. The club head adjustments are noticeable and you'll find that you can tweak your ball flight. I love it! Thanks TaylorMade for a great driver.
I thought the SLDR was a long driver. I played the SLDR until the R15 beat it. The R15 gave me higher ball speeds and also more distance than the SLDR. The R15 is way more forgiving than the SLDR too. The best of both worlds. Coming from the SLDR, transitioning to playing the R15 was easy. I even use the same TP shaft from the SLDR in my R15.
This is the best driver I've ever used, by a country mile. I loved my R1. This makes the R1 a distant memory. I have never hit the ball so straight, so far, so consistent. My only issue with this club is now I have to learn to hit the ball to places I never expected to be. I have to completely change the targets I have had for years. I can cut corners, hit driver on narrow fairways I used to hit 3 wood, almost like learning my own game all over again. So, not really an issue. Amazing club. Thank you TaylorMade!
I had the standard 5 wood and exchanged it for the TP HL. What a difference the shaft made. I hit the the 5 wood okay but the 3 wood TP is a beast. A typical 3 wood for me is about 240 yds. First day out I hit a few shots over 270 yds. Just ordered 19 degree hybrid
Wow! What a great Driver! Looks so good and feels even better when you swing it. I had mine trimmed by taylormade an inch and it is still really long off the tee. It is so forgiving as well. I thought how could they top the sldr, but they did with this beauty. I recommend to anyone who wants to get in the fairway.
The only facet of my game that has been an issue consistently has been the lack of control I felt every time I stepped up to a tee box that required me to grab my driver. I compensated by swinging 80-90% and just tried to get it in the fairway. As a result, I spent many holes recovering from the rough or worse, and relying on my short game to keep my scores manageable. After manipulating the weights on the R15 and getting a feel for the club I was able to get nice straight drives, or a slight draw, on just about every shot with a full strength swing. Added 30 yds to my average. Great piece of gear. There is no substitute for confidence in your swing. If I had to say something negative, it would be that the club head cover on the R15 looks like a friggin oven mitt. Well done guys.
Very explosive off the face, more so than the SLDR. I have owned pretty much every TM driver since the 300, and this is hands down the best driver they have built. My only complaint is that I wish it were offered in black like the 460 version. Fuji Speeder Evolution 757 Tour Spec is also a great compliment to this driver.
