The Speed Pocket has Changed the Iron Forever

One little thing makes RocketBladez irons stand apart from the rest, and that’s the Speed Pocket, a 2mm-wide slot in the sole that flexes and rebounds at impact, increasing the speed of the face to promote faster ball speed, a higher launch angle and a higher, stronger ball flight that lands on a steep, quick-stopping descent angle.

It’s the same concept that makes our RBZ Stage 2 fairways and Rescues so fast and long. In addition to delivering more speed for more distance, the RocketBladez Speed Pocket also delivers consistent speed, so shots fly a consistent distance for predictability from shot to shot. Incorporated in the 3- through 7-irons, the Speed Pocket also promotes dramatically less drop-off in ball speed on impacts low on the face, where the majority of iron mis-hits occur -- TaylorMade studies indicate that 68% of iron shots by amateur golfers are mis-hits below center-face.

RocketBladez irons feel great too. The Speed Pocket is filled with a specially formulated polyurethane developed by 3M that quiets vibration without significantly slowing/inhibiting the flex of the pocket, while also keeping debris out.

RocketBladez irons also incorporate TaylorMade’s newest and most effective iteration of Inverted Cone clubface technology. Positioned in the back of the clubface, the improved Inverted Cone design delivers two critical benefits. One, it increases the size of the clubface area that delivers high ball speed. Two, it influences how the face flexes and rebounds at impact to control the angle at which the ball leaves the face, promoting straighter shots and a tighter dispersion. This is a critical benefit that promotes significantly more accuracy compared to previous high COR irons.

  • Speed Pocket in the 3- through 7-irons works with an advanced, ultra-thin face design to promote consistently high ball speed and distance.
  •  Consistent distance with every iron made possible by careful management of the Speed Pocket, improved Inverted Cone shape and high MOI.
  •  17.5 grams of weight is strategically redistributed to lower and center the CG location, promoting a higher launch angle, higher peak trajectory and a steep, soft-landing, quick-stopping descent angle.
  • Fantastic feel promoted by a specially formulated polyurethane developed by 3M that fills the RBZ Speed Pocket and quiets vibration.
  • SW and LW have re-designed cavities to promote feel, feature our renowned ATV sole for maximum greenside versatility, and come equipped with heavier steel shafts to promote better rhythm and control

      Comments about TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons:

Tried the RB irons on a simulator. Did own the TaylorMade '09 Tour Preffered for 3 years but lost about a club in distance. Simulator showed that I got my distance back. Purchased RB irons, played my first round 3days later and shot a 77 with 3 birdies (3 approach shots to within 4 feet). Got my distance back, clubs feel great, but still have to get used to distances GREAT CLUBS!

        Comments about TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons:

First,I am not a fan of Taylor Made and have not had a set since the RAC OS but these have made me a convert. What I like most is you don't have to change anything about your swing or set up. If you have good fundimentals, you will be rewarded with pure and straight shots. Distance doesn't matter to me as much as feel and accuracy, which these clubs deliver. I am a senior and have found new confidence and excitement in my game. Don't pass these by if you are shopping for clubs. You will be glad you did.

          Comments about TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons:

These clubs.....WOW! Never had irons that went through the ground as easily as these do. Very easy to control. Draw naturally but when you need to fade the ball these have no problems. Very workable, soft solid feel when you pure it. I would prefer these to anyone over forged clubs. Didn't gain distance but the control is hard to argue. When you do want that extra 10-15 yards from a 8 iron or 4 iron, trust me, it's there waiting to be unleashed.

Just got these for Christmas and they are the finest clubs I have hit, period. While I am still dialing them in, I can tell these clubs will keep me 'in the game'. Original set is 4-SW with AW added. I want to order the LW and add it to my arsenal. Put these with my new SLDR driver and SLDR 3 and I am looking for the first tee.

              Comments about TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons:

After having played the Burner 1.0 irons for 4 yrs, (I'm a 8 hcp) I decided to demo new irons - Titliest AP-1 714, Mizuno JPX 825 and the Taylormade Rocketbladez. Without a doubt, the Rocketbladez won out in distance, feel, and accuracy! The ball explodes off the face (can you say Rocket)! I was hitting the 7 iron 170 yds (normally 155). I just returned from the range (here in cold New Jersey)and was hitting the 7 iron 165 yds. I can't wait for the warm weather. Don't hesitate to try these. You won't be sorry!!!

Ordered 4-W with regular graphite shaftsthrough our pro shop and was fitted by our head pro...ordered standard lie and two degrees strong in loft...After a couple of months of struggling inconsistent play I used the fitting board to hit balls and had the clubs checked on the machine ..Found that Taylor delivered four which were one degree upright and three which were half a degree upright..one club, the nine iron promoted a shank about half the time...the pro had the same problem when he hit it..after several discussions the Taylor Rep agreed to replace and sent me a "demo" nine iron with a worn grip as the replacement...nice solution. I do not shank it...did not check the lofts on the clubs to see if they are two degrees strong but judging by the haphazard and poor set up on the set I would guess that they are not what I ordered either since I hit them the same distances as my old clubs.I am not at all happy with these clubs mostly due to the poor customer fitting quality on the delivered product and response to complaints..

                    Comments about TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons:

I have played classic Ping Eye 2's for decades due to their grandfathered square grooves. My distances with these clubs have been fixed in stone for eons: PW -125, 9i-135, 8i-150, 7i-160, 6i-170, 5i-180, 4i-190.

I was very loathe to switch irons, even though I tend to hit low and leak right with the Pings. Then I heard about phenomenal distance claims from the RBladez and decided to investigate since I'd really like to hit a iron off some tees on tight dogleg 4's instead of a 5 wood. I bought a 7i for testing and discovered that everything they said was true. Rbladez 7 flies as high, is as easy to hit, and lands as soft as my Ping 7 -- it just goes 15 yards FARTHER (about 175 avg, 180 if I crank it).

What really surprised me was the Rbladez also had a much straighter ball flight than the Pings on the low end. I was sold after one range session and bought the full set. 4i now goes 205-210 and the PW goes 135.

So then I had gaps to fill at the bottom end and decided to fill them with TM's ATV wedges because they offered so many loft options. I like them even better than the Rbladez! Very versatile out of rough, sand and thin lies if you experiment with the bounce of their wide soles. BTW, the Rbladez are also very good out of fairway bunkers as they don't tend to dig in. (No one talks about this.)

What don't I like about them? When you flush one, it screams. A normal shot goes normal and a clanker (which tends to happen more on high face hits) goes short, so overall shot dispersal is higher than with my old clubs. But that's mainly because the flushed shots are so long. I can easily try not to crank 'em. Also, the clubs DO NOT like to be hit high on the face. Low face shots are okay, just like the TM lit says. So be careful if you have a fluffy lie in the rough. No worries on thin lies or on hardpan though, just go after it.

I tried irons speedblade at a demo, to my amazement I needed a stiff steel, of course on range hitting off turf into a 25mph wind, they went straight and high. I later tested them on a indoor range and was hitting a 6 iron into a green pin was 185 , I carried it to pin and some beyond. I ordered a set of Rockbladez, they were $200 cheaper and same preformance for me. I am 68 years old but always a long hitter with irons.

Every single thing about the clubs is great, although in retrospect, I should have probably purchased the Tours for the more "Blade-like" look. I use the product every round, which is 3 or 4 rounds a week when healthy and in season. The clubs look great, powerful and being stronger lofted, I just feel I've added so much distance. There are no flaws with these irons!
